Detty December in Lagos: plan your festive season
Coming home for December? How to plan concerts, owambes, beach days and family time in Lagos without missing out or overspending.
Plan the big nights early
December in Lagos fills up fast: concerts, festivals, beach parties and every wedding your family has been saving for the holidays. The headline shows usually announce in October and November and the best tickets go first.
- List the two or three nights you can't miss and buy those tickets first.
- Keep your calendar honest: one big night out, then a quieter day, is how most people last the month.
- Note where each event is. Island to Mainland at night can take hours, so group nights by area.
Find what's on
Zulra lists public events by city, plus picks from the team for nightlife, festivals, beaches and places to visit. See what's on in Lagos at getzulra.com/events/lagos, and follow hosts you like so you hear about their next event.
Go as a group
Make a group chat for the friends you're going out with, share the event link there, and let everyone buy their own ticket. Keep a shared budget for tables, drinks and rides so nobody is chasing anybody in January.
Weddings and family celebrations
If you're invited to a December wedding, sort your aso-ebi early - tailors are busiest in December. If you can't make one, you can still send a cash gift to the celebrant from wherever you are, with your name and a message attached.
Hosting something?
If you're throwing a party, a concert or a homecoming, publish it on Zulra to sell tickets or take RSVPs, check guests in at the door and keep the planning - to do list, budget and run of show - in one place.
